WXXI features RIT's Expressions of King’s Legacy keynote speaker Henry Louis Gates Jr.

Henry Louis Gates Jr. will deliver the keynote address at RIT’s 40th Expressions of King’s Legacy. The event is free and open to the public, taking place from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, at the Gordon Field House and Activities Center.

RIT's annual Veterans Day Breakfast returns this year featuring a keynote address by RIT alumnus, adjunct faculty member, and active member of the military, Thomas L. Peeples ’94, ’03 MS.

RIT has been designated by the national publication Woman Engineer as one of the Top 20 Universities, recognized for its offerings of a diversified curriculum, student base, and faculty, as well as its ability to foster a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

A gift from IDI Billing Solutions, a global provider of cloud-based billing, automation and workflow solutions for Communications Service Providers, will help RIT fund a series of important diversity initiatives. The company recently donated $162,000 to help RIT provide new scholarships, emergency support funds, and programmatic opportunities for RIT and K-12 students.

In his latest “Ask Munson” series on WITR-FM (89.7), RIT President David Munson said the campus now is as lively as he’s ever seen it, with students enjoying activities, this weekend’s Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend, and construction projects at full speed.

RIT received national recognition for its work to help diversify the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) workforce. STEM Workforce Diversity Magazine ranked RIT among its top 20 universities for 2021.

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine has recognized RIT as a 2021 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award recipient and a 2021 Diversity Champion. This marks the eighth year in a row RIT has been named a HEED Award recipient and seventh consecutive year as a Diversity Champion.

RIT has received the “Peace Corps Prep” designation, enabling its students to take certain classes to better prepare them for service in the Peace Corps upon graduation. RIT is the first university in Western New York to receive the designation, and the fifth in the state.
