Student designer represents RIT on three packaging competition winning teams in four years
Kelly Fellner is still packing heat. The packaging science major has been on three winning RIT student teams in the past four years at the annual Paperboard Packaging Design Challenge. In 2018, she was part of the Packing Heat team that took first place for its subscription box filled with fiery sauces and treats.

Museum studies alumna discovers rare ‘Super Mario Bros. 3’ video game demo
While processing a box of donated items, Kirsten Feigel ’15 (museum studies), a cataloguer for Strong National Museum of Play, came across a rare piece of video game history—a demo of Super Mario Bros. 3 that was created in 1990 by id Software in an attempt to persuade Nintendo to partner with them to develop a version of the game for PC computers.

Faculty member develops co-op experiences specific to supporting nonprofit companies
A new option for co-op experiences at nonprofits is part of a pilot program being developed by a College of Art and Design faculty member. Professor Susan Lakin said the aim of the program is to both fill a need at nonprofits for digitally fluent staff and to provide an important experience for students interested in working closely with community organizations.

Students find varied employment opportunities at RIT career fair
At the university-wide career fair on Wednesday, representatives from 108 companies and the military met with students hoping to land a co-op next year, or a full-time position. More than 1,200 students attended the fair in the first hour.

Metaproject 12 promises to be the cat’s meow this academic year. Students in RIT’s industrial design program will spend the semester designing products for Modkat, the award-winning maker of cat litter boxes. Metaproject pairs students with a different industry partner each year.

Students win Canon national design competition
Undergraduate students in Irma Abu-Jumah’s Typography and Page Design course placed first in the Canon Solutions America—University Program Magalog Challenge this spring. They were among two schools and several teams that participated in the University Inkjet Program, the company’s annual student design competition.
