Professor Santosh Kurinec will represent RIT on the American Semiconductor Academy—an extensive, national consortia being established to meet the challenges of computer chip shortages.

Forbes has identified a few of the RIT alumni set to define the next decade—and beyond. Two RIT alumni—and a third just a few months shy of the age cut-off—were named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2022. Jackie Wiley ’16 (game design and development) was honored in the Games category, and Dylan Ayrey ’15 (computer engineering) was named in the Enterprise Technology category.

Assistant professor Amy Adrion—whose work has screened at South by Southwest, Sundance, and Tribeca film festival—recently directed and produced videos for an online streaming series featuring actors reading children’s books brought to life through animation.

RIT has modernized its approach to recruiting faculty members to improve representation. Assistant Professor Eli Borrego, pictured above, is an expert in the genetics and biochemistry of plant-microbe and plant-insect communication and ecology, and he was introduced to RIT through the Future Faculty Career Exploration Program.

Executive MBA alumna Deborah Stamps ’18 was named president of Rochester Regional Health’s (RRH) new College of Health Careers. Stamps led the charge to establish the college, which welcomed its first cohort of nursing students in March 2021.

Rebecca Bober, a third-year packaging science major from Bloomfield, N.Y., recently earned Eagle Scout rank with Boy Scouts of America, becoming the first female Eagle Scout in the Finger Lakes region.

Alesha Williams, a Future Faculty Post-Doc Fellow in RIT’s College of Art and Design, is an illustrator, designer, and educator from Cleveland. Williams is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion, combining her many research interests to focus on character design and representation of marginalized and minority characters in the comic book medium.

The Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences earned RIT’s annual award for success in diversifying the university’s faculty ranks and helping to advance RIT’s overall commitment to diversity.

Jennifer Indovina—RIT alumna, entrepreneur, international TED Fellow and adjunct faculty member—was part of the WXXI team that won a 2021 New York Emmy for its educational and career focused programming, “I Can be What?” 

Dorin Patru and Linlin Chen, faculty-researchers at RIT, received a grant from the National Science Foundation to upgrade functions of programmable memory. They, along with colleagues from University of Rochester, will develop new algorithms to improve the internal computing memory system to enable scalable and more robust performance.

For fourth-year dietetics and nutrition student Abigail Morrissey, sports nutrition is more than academics—it’s about debunking misinformation about food and body size that promotes unhealthy eating habits among young women athletes.

A $250,000 grant from the U.S. State Department will fund a program led by RIT professors Clyde Hull and Eric Williams to help entrepreneurs in Jordan form circular economy businesses.
