Broadcast & Digital Journalism

Curriculum Guide Minor Requirements Technology Requirements

Do you want to be a news reporter, anchor, editor, podcaster, director, filmmaker, work in front of a camera, or behind the scenes? Broadcast & Digital Journalism prepares you with the knowledge, access to equipment, and opportunity to learn the important craft of storytelling as well as the multimedia tools needed to enhance the story. Our classes will expose you to theory, teach you to write better, professionally operate video and audio equipment, edit your content to make it more impactful, and deliver your content to an audience. All of these skills culminate in our capstone class in which you broadcast content in a live studio environment.

You can find our alumni working in news stations across both local (Tupelo, Jackson, Memphis, etc.) and national (Orlando, Milwaukee, Omaha, etc.) markets. We also have  graduates that have been able to use our internship opportunities, offered both locally and nationally, to gain employment in larger settings such as ESPN and The SEC Network.
