Flora Dedeaux, a communication major double concentrating in public relations and broadcast & digital journalism, from Gulfport, Miss., received the 2022 PRAM Student of the Year.

Josh Foreman, an instructor in print & digital journalism, and his co-author, Ryan Starrett, spoke during "Literature at Lunch" at the Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration. They told the story of John Blommart, who was a retired Royal Navy captain who settled in Natchez in the late 1700s. He ended up fighting off an American assault during the Revolutionary War. A couple years later, after the Spanish had captured Natchez, he recaptured the city using an army of British loyalists and Choctaw warriors.

This work was part of the university's response to COVID-19, and results informed the university's communication efforts.

Her presentation focused on understanding the fundamentals of successfully leading through a crisis, outlining key character traits of successful leaders, identifying crisis management stages, and reviewing John C. Maxwell's seven guiding principles for leading through a crisis.
