Alpha Psi Omega
Alpha Psi Omega (ΑΨΩ) is a National Theatre Honor Society for participants in collegiate theatre. It began in the early 20th century as result of the growing interest in dramatic arts among colleges and universities throughout America, with the aim of encouraging dramatic production at every step in a person’s academic career. Alpha Psi Omega has enjoyed continuous national growth and is the largest national honor society in America.

Broadcasting Education Association Student Media Club
The BEA Student Media Club at MSU is designed to help students create professional ties to the broadcast industry. Events include a spring 48 hour audio challenge and a fall 48 hour film/video challenge, as well as invited guest speakers to campus.

Blackfriars Drama Society
The primary purpose of Blackfriars Drama Society is to promote and support theatre as an art form, the theatre production process, student leadership in the arts and theatre artists on Mississippi State University’s campus and in the local community. Lambda Pi Eta
MSU hosts the Theta Alpha chapter of Lambda Pi Eta (LPH), the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association. Newly eligible candidates for Lambda Pi Eta are identified in the fall semester and inducted in the spring semester of each year. If you believe you are eligible to join but have not received an invitation, feel free to contact the faculty advisors.To be eligible for admission, undergraduate students must meet the following criteria:
- Complete 60 semester credit-hours
- Have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Complete the equivalent of 12 semester credit-hours in Communication
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.25 for all Communication Studies courses
- Currently be enrolled as a student in good standing, as determined by MSU's policies

Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM)
PRAM is a regional organization comprised of college students and the best public relations practitioners in Mississippi. A membership provides access to workshops and conferences, PRISM Awards, study programs for Accreditation, as well as membership in the Southern Public Relations Federation. About PRISM Get Involved Our Work
The Department of Communication’s Public Relations & Integrated Student Media agency (PRISM) fosters a dynamic learning environment where students are encouraged to apply classroom knowledge to strategic communication campaigns unfolding in real time.
PRISM members are provided the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of non-profit and for-profit organizations in and outside the state of Mississippi. Past and current clients include Mercedes-Benz of Tuscaloosa, the Magnolia Independent Film Festival, Shower Power, the Starkville Area Arts Council, OCH Regional Medical Center, MSU’s Department of Geosciences, the Center for Community-Engaged Learning, and many more.

The Reflector
The Reflector is Mississippi State University’s award-winning student newspaper, and the oldest student newspaper in the SEC. Since 1884, the Reflector has helped thousands of young writers, photographers, designers, and editors get their start in media. Some of the Reflector’s recent alumni who now shape the national dialogue include:

Speech & Debate Council
About Us Awards Tournaments Support Us
The MSU Speech and Debate Council represents Mississippi State University in intercollegiate forensics competition and promotes speech and debate education on campus and across the state. We believe in the power of the spoken word to change lives and communities for the better.
Competitive speech and debate at Mississippi State has a long and proud history, stretching back over decades. Since the program was revived in 2015, it has had great success, winning numerous tournament and regional championships, and seeing our students ranked among the top in the nation.
However, the Council’s impact goes beyond winning trophies. We promote public speaking and debate on MSU’s campus through activities like the Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Contest, mock presidential debates, and sponsorship of Student Association debates. We also work to provide forensics education in the larger community by sponsoring activities like the Cowbell Classic tournament and helping establish and support new high school programs.
Whether you’re an experienced speaker or completely new to the activity, the Council has something for you. If you’re interested in learning more, let us know.

Theatre MSU
Theatre MSU provides students with professional training in a wide range of productions skills. Students from all majors at MSU are welcome to participate in acting, scene construction, costuming, and helping behind the scenes. Audition information is posted on Theatre MSU’s social media platforms as well as on Cowbell Connect. Theatre MSU typically produces five productions each year that includes one children's show.

The Scene
The Scene is the new MSU student organization devoted to film and hosted by the Department of Communication. The goal of The Scene is to create one short film each semester that is completely student written, directed, and edited. The organization hopes to give students of all different backgrounds and levels of experience the chance to see and/or be a part of every aspect of the filmmaking process.
